Wintjiri Wiṟu has officially opened at Ayers Rock Resort
Tourism NT is delighted to share that Wintjiri Wiṟu has officially opened at Ayers Rock Resort. This incredible story and show is the first of its kind and has been in the making for many years with comprehensive Anangu consultation and discussion. Wintjiri Wiru is an authentic and unique story telling experience using light and sound, which will immerse viewers in the incredible story of the Mala ancestors.

Territory tourism shines bright on national stage
Northern Territory tourism and hospitality operators have been awarded a swag of medals including two gold, two silver and four bronze at the 2022 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, putting the Territory on the map when it comes exceptional experiences.
The Awards, held at Doltone House Darling Island in Sydney, saw Australia’s tourism industry unite to celebrate the premier tourism businesses in the country and reveal the national winners.
Grants to enhance visitor experience
The Territory Government is backing in tourism and hospitality operators with the latest round of the Visitor Experience Enhancement Program (VEEP), which will help businesses upgrade their facilities and entice tourists to the Territory.
In round six of VEEP, there is a $1 million funding pool to help tour operators take on projects that improve the on-ground visitor experience, which keeps tourists coming back and staying longer.
Tourism NT hosts Singapore Trade Mission
The Northern Territory is being promoted as a key tourism destination in Singapore this week as part of the Northern Territory Government’s Singapore tourism trade mission.
Hosted by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade, the delegation included Tourism NT, Tourism Top End and 10 NT tourism and hospitality operators including Royal Flying Doctor Service Tourist Facility, Kakadu Air and Accor’s Mercure Darwin and Novotel Darwin Airport Resorts.
NT Parks masterplan released
A Masterplan outlining the strategic direction for the Northern Territory Government’s 85 parks and reserves has been finalised, providing long-term certainty and purpose to park management, Traditional Owners, Territorians and potential investors.
Also released alongside the Masterplan is the Northern Territory Parks 10 Year Activation Plan, which maps out infrastructure development for the first decade of the Masterplan.Get paid to do this! New WHM recruitment campaign
The Northern Territory Government is rolling out its new 2023 Working Holiday Maker campaigns to attract hospitality and tourism workers ahead of the Territory’s peak visitor season.
Capturing the essence of the Territory, the messaging will highlight the freedom and job flexibility the Territory provides, from our stunning landscapes and wide open spaces to outback adventures, wildlife, traditional Aboriginal art, cultural and nature-based tourism activities.

Tourism Towards 2030 conference
The NT tourism industry has gathered in strong numbers for the annual Tourism Towards 2030 conferences held in Alice Springs and Darwin this week with more than 150 registered in Alice Springs and approximately 250 attending in Darwin.
Presented by Tourism NT in partnership with Tourism Central Australia in Alice Springs and Tourism Top End in Darwin, the conferences featured a range of inspirational and educational speakers designed to inspire and grow the Territory tourism sector.Support for Central Australian tourism industry
The Northern Territory Government is making further investments into Central Australian tourism, to bolster the industry, create jobs and encourage visitors to the region.
Included in the funding is a $1 million dollar brand and trade campaign dedicated to the Red Centre, to drive interstate visitation in 2023.
Unlocking Aboriginal Tourism Development Funding
The Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade is assisting NT Aboriginal tourism businesses access to consultancy services to seek opportunities and unlock potential funding through a new Unlocking Aboriginal Tourism Development Funding initiative.
The consultancy services will assist NT Aboriginal tourism businesses with navigating and accessing the broad range of philanthropic and government funding opportunities available for the Aboriginal tourism sector.New walk for Watarrka on track
A brand new multi-million dollar outback hiking experience in Central Australia is one step closer, delivering job opportunities and a new tourism experience in Central Australia.
With the Project Facilitation Agreement signed, The Watarrka Track, located 330 kilometres south west of Alice Springs is set to be one of Australia’s most scenic multi-day walking experiences.
All roads lead to the NT with latest tourism campaigns
Tourism NT's latest national tourism marketing campaigns were launched yesterday targeting Australians intending to travel domestically in 2023 with its latest Seek Different brand campaign and those wanting a driving holiday with its Road Trip Differently drive campaign.
The campaigns are in market across Australia running up to May 2023 with cinema, television and print advertising, in addition to promotions on social, digital, search and You Tube channels.
Aboriginal tourism development grants on offer
The Northern Territory government is investing in Aboriginal Territorians and Aboriginal owned businesses and organisations, to develop Aboriginal cultural tourism experiences and products that encourage visitors to travel to the NT and stay longer.
The Aboriginal Tourism Development Support grant program is now open, with a funding pool of $200,000 released, to enable Aboriginal Territorians and business owners to engage professional services to assist with feasibility studies and business planning – an essential step in building sustainable tourism experiences.

Aboriginal cultural experiences to get a boost
In an effort to ensure the NT remains the preferred destination for authentic Aboriginal cultural tourism experiences, the Northern Territory government is growing the sector, increasing visitor numbers and strengthening our economy.
The Aboriginal Tourism Grant Program plays an important part in assisting Aboriginal owned businesses and organisations to boost their existing products or develop new ones.
Territory tourism gems top the Insta-hits in 2022
An awe-inspiring reel of Uluru was the most popular post in 2022 on Tourism NT’s Instagram channel @NTaustralia.
Attracting nearly 11,000 likes, the reel by @twosometravellers was captured from the back of a van and shared with @NTaustralia’s 378,000 followers.
