Why is the NT Government launching Destination NT?
Destination NT is a dynamic new initiative that brings together key events to celebrate, grow and strengthen the NT's visitor economy.
Destination NT was developed to support a new direction for tourism, events and hospitality and broaden understanding of the role these sectors play in economic development, building community pride and enhancing the NT's unique lifestyle.
The high-impact program format provides a new opportunity for tourism and hospitality businesses, government and community and industry stakeholders to connect, collaborate and gain valuable insights while celebrating excellents.
This is about taking the tourism, events and hospitality industry conversation to the community to build understanding about the visitor economy and its impact on the overall NT economy.
How was the program shaped?
Through consultation with industry, including feedback from the 2025 Tourism Towards 2030 Conference, where 59% of survey respondents supported a consolidated conference format alternating between Darwin and Alice Springs annually.
What are the main events in the program?
Destination NT will feature the annual conference (historically called Tourism Towards 2030), the Aboriginal Tourism Forum, sector opportunities session and the Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards.
Where will Destination NT be held?
Destination NT will be held in Darwin in 2025 and Alice Springs in 2026 to align with the Brolga Awards location schedule.
