Tourism Ministers Perpetual Trophy - Geoff McGeary OAM
Geoff McGeary OAM is the founder and owner of Australia Pacific Tours (APT). Mr McGeary took over his family touring business 50 years ago and his first foray into the Northern Territory came in 1964, when he took a group of Melbourne students on a camping trip to Central Australia. Since then his business has grown with offices in New Zealand, the UK and the USA, bringing overseas visitors to visit Australian and the Northern Territory. APT has become one of the leading travel companies in Australia, and the world, offering more than 100 different holidays to every corner of the globe, including the Northern Territory.
George Dunne Award for Outstanding Contribution by an Individual - Nick De Silva
Nick De Silva is a Hospitality Lecturer for Tourism and Hospitality Central, within the School of Service Industries at Charles Darwin University in Alice Springs. Nick recently celebrated his twenty fifth year with CDU and the Desert Lantern Training Restaurant and its predecessor Gillen House. During this time, Nick has provided the highest quality of training and customer service to several thousand students, from the Northern Territory and overseas. One of Nick’s most significant contributions has been his passion for encouraging young people to consider a career in the hospitality and tourism industry.
SKAL Tourism Industry Employee Award - Dale McIver
Dale McIver has provided passion and commitment to tourism in Central Australia for the last seventeen years, since starting as a tour director for AAT Kings in the late 1990’s. A highly regarded and energetic person, Dale has fulfilled a number of different roles within the region and is known to consistently walks that extra mile for customers and clients. Nominated by the committee of the Henley on Todd Regatta for her contribution to help reinvigorate the event, Dale brought a wealth of knowledge of the event industry that she shared with the board and extensive marketing and sponsorship contacts.
