Industry Connectivity

It is important for tourism businesses to connect with the broader tourism industry to stay up-to-date and develop professional relationships. Being actively engaged with Tourism NT and the Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs) will ensure you stay informed and access business resources.

The below benchmarks formulate the industry connectivity pillar, in order from developing to leading levels.

Receive industry newsletter and updates

Tourism NT and the RTOs communicate information through industry newsletters and updates. Subscribe to newsletters and stay informed about business support opportunities, industry news, networking events and marketing opportunities.

RTO membership

A membership with your RTO offers opportunities to connect your business to the industry, including attending member-only functions such as monthly general meetings, workshops, social forums, industry updates and more.

The RTOs are also a travel agency and sell tours and experiences to visitors in-store and online. Being a member of a RTO can increase your exposure directly to consumers.

Tourism Top End is the RTO for Darwin, Litchfield, Katherine and Big Rivers, Kakadu and Arnhem Land regions.

Tourism Central Australia is the RTO for Alice Springs and MacDonnell Ranges, Uluru and Kings Canyon, Tennant Creek and Barkly regions.

Contact a tourism development representative at your RTO to become a member.

Attend industry networking events and briefings

By being connected to the tourism industry through sector specific organisations, RTOs and Tourism NT, you will be invited to attend industry events, workshops and networking opportunities. Partaking in these opportunities allows your business to stay up-to-date, maintain networks and develop partnerships.

Connect internationally by working with Tourism NT’s international marketing team. We have Northern Territory representatives across Europe, the Americas and Asia who can help facilitate international connections and in-market events.

Contact a tourism development representative at your RTO to enquire on upcoming events.

Participate in industry insight sessions and surveys

Tourism NT, sector specific organisations or the RTOs may conduct industry insight sessions and surveys which can contribute to understanding current industry sentiments and research. This information is beneficial to ensure knowledge gaps are filled within industry, targeted support is offered and data collected is useful to the organisations marketing strategies.
