Territory businesses are China ready
- 25 May 2018
The inaugural Donghai Airlines flight arrives in Darwin next Wednesday 30 May.
In preparation for the historic flight, 45 local businesses have completed Tourism NT’s China Ready Workshops and are ready for visitors.
Getting ‘China Ready’ is crucial as the Territory targets 30,000 Chinese visitors annually and an estimated expenditure of $46 million by 2020.
The China Ready program assists local businesses with cultural insights so they can successfully engage with Chinese customers.
Businesses that complete the program also received global accreditation with China Ready & Accredited (CRA), which is recognised by Chinese visitors.
SKYCITY General Manager, David Christian, said Chinese guests at SKYCITY will be able to enjoy a new Territory food and beverage menu with Australian meats and wines, a Territory tasting platter featuring crocodile, barramundi and buffalo and an expanded Chinese menu.
“Our team have undertaken accredited China Ready training and Chinese guests will find SKYCITY easy to navigate with our Mandarin signage, menus and property information,” he said.
Uluru Segway Tours, Gardens Park Golf Links, Elements Day Spa, Aviation Heritage Museum and Darwin Trailer Boat Club are just some of the other local NT businesses that have accessed the Welcome China grant program to prepare for Chinese visitors.
Under the program, funding can be obtained to translate safety videos, menus, websites and brochures into Mandarin.
