Golden start for Million Dollar Fish
- 10 October 2016
The first two prize-tagged barramundi of the popular competition were caught just hours a part four days after the competition started on 1 October.
Bragging rights for the first winner of Season 2 went to Darwin mother-of-two, Kellie Carroll, who also became the first female winner in the competition's history when she hooked a 55cm competition barra in Darwin Harbour.
Darwin man, George Voukolos, reeled in the second tagged barra of Season 2 of the competition at Daly River, a popular fishing spot two and half hours from Darwin.
A third $10,000 prize-tagged barra was then caught by another local fisho, Chris Louden, capping off a remarkable first week of the competition.
Season 2 of Million Dollar Fish has seen 101 prize-tagged tagged and released across the Territory with 100 carrying $10,000 cash prize tags and one fish with a $1 Million prize tag. A further $96,000 in sponsored prizes are also up for grabs to those who register to enter the competition on www.milliondollarfish.com.au.
