Wintjiri Wiru

Tourism NT is delighted to share that Wintjiri Wiṟu has officially opened at Ayers Rock Resort. This incredible story and show is the first of its kind and has been in the making for many years with comprehensive Anangu consultation and discussion. Wintjiri Wiru is an authentic and unique story telling experience using light and sound, which will immerse viewers in the incredible story of the Mala ancestors.

Wintjiri Wiṟu, eloquently named to suggest a beautiful view on the horizon in the local Anangu language, has been produced by world-renowned architectural lighting company RAMUS and provides viewers with an unforgettable evening bringing the Mala story to life on such an impressive and visual scale.

Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia, who developed this show in collaboration with the local Anangu community, will host two Wintjiri Wiru sound and light shows every night, from now until December, with one show a night during January and February 2024.

Anangu have one of the oldest living continuous cultures in the world and have been the custodians of this land and its many stories, since the beginning of time. This project tells the Mala story through light installations, projections, lasers and incredible drone technology with the whole story telling experience enhanced by the authentic soundtrack of the Anangu Inma.

The signature experience is the three-hour Wintjiri Wiru Sunset Dinner which starts with welcome cocktails and canapes while the sun sets over Kata Tjuta and Uluru. This is followed by a gourmet dinner hamper celebrating native ingredients and paired with premium Australian wines. To find out how to secure your tickets to this unforgettable experience, head to Wintjiri Wiru | Ayers Rock Resort.
