STUDIOCANAL has unveiled the trailer for Kangaroo, a family comedy filmed in Alice Springs on Arrernte Country. Inspired by the life of Chris "Brolga" Barns, founder of the Kangaroo Sanctuary, the film follows ex-TV presenter Chris Masterman (Ryan Corr) and 12-year-old Charlie (Lily Whiteley) as they bond while rescuing orphaned joeys in the stunning outback.

The production, supported by $900,000 from Screen Territory’s Production Attraction Incentive Program, created 150 local jobs, engaged 100 businesses, and contributed $4 million to the NT economy. Emerging Eastern Arrernte director Samantha Laughton gained valuable experience as a Director’s Attachment under acclaimed filmmaker Kate Woods.

Produced by Brindle Films and Bunya Productions, with support from Screen Australia and Screen NSW, Kangaroo showcases the breathtaking landscapes of the Northern Territory and will premiere in cinemas in 2025.
