As part of Budget 2022 the Northern Territory Government will invest a further $2 million in a third round of the Territory Small Business Roadhouse to Recovery Grant program, with the grants opening on 10 May 2022.

This round will see wayside inns and roadhouses within the Territory able to apply for grants up to $150,000 for infrastructure improvements, with businesses required to provide a minimum 50 per cent cash contribution to the project and grants made on a $1 for $1 basis.

The program aims to assist regional and remote wayside inns and roadhouse operators to undertake infrastructure projects that will improve the on-ground visitor experience in the Northern Territory and encourage visitors particularly those undertaking a driving holiday to stay in remote regions longer.

Priority will be given to projects from remote wayside inns and roadhouses that improve ablutions and family amenities in this third round.

The first round of the popular program opened in November 2020 with 35 regional and remote wayside inn, caravan parks and roadhouse operators across the Territory receiving $4 million in grants, with 21 projects in the Top End and 14 in Central Australia

Round 2 of the program opened in June 2021 with 39 regional and remote wayside inn, caravan parks and roadhouse operators across the Territory receiving $4.9 million in grants, with 28 projects in the Top End and 11 in Central Australia.

Round 3 of the Roadhouse to Recovery Grant program is open from 10 May 2022 with applications closing 18 July 2022.
