The luxury cruise liner Quantum of the Seas docked in Darwin Harbour earlier this week on its 12-day voyage from Singapore to Brisbane. Hosting up to 5,500 passengers and crew, this marks the ship's first visit to the Top End.

Passengers disembarked to explore Darwin and nearby national parks, enjoying experiences such as crocodile cruises, WWII history tours, Aboriginal art exhibits, and street art trails. It's estimated their one-day stopover will contribute around $2 million to the local economy.

Tourism Top End ambassadors, live music, and shuttles welcomed visitors, highlighting Darwin’s warm hospitality. More adventurous activities included jet ski tours, harbour cruises, and trips to Litchfield National Park.

This cruise season, 127 ships from 42 companies are set to visit Darwin, with 13 maiden calls planned. The NT’s cruise sector continues to grow, supported by the NT Cruise Tourism Strategy 2022–2025.

Tourism and Hospitality CEO Suzana Bishop said, “The arrival of Quantum of the Seas reinforces Darwin’s appeal as a premier cruising destination with unmatched cultural and natural attractions.”

Darwin Port CEO Peter Dummett added, “This milestone underscores Darwin’s capability to host some of the world’s largest and most luxurious cruise ships, strengthening its role as a key gateway for international tourism.”
