NT to star in national cooking tv show

Usually filmed at the Queen Victoria Markets in Melbourne, My Market Kitchen focuses on creating fresh, modern dishes from the best local ingredients.

The Network Ten series is hosted by Northern Territory born MasterChef Australia 2013 runner-up, Lynton Tapp, and former MasterChef Australia winner, Emma Dean.

The Northern Territory episodes will see the pair visit hipster foodie hot spots and bars in Alice Springs and Darwin as well as forage and cook traditional Aboriginal bush foods in Kakadu.

The cooking series will also showcase an authentic outback experience in Katherine, featuring a cook-out in front of the stunning Edith Falls in Nitmiluk National Park as well as a classic station dish prepared with country music artist and horseman, Tom Curtain.

The Darwin segment will see Lynton team up with legendary NT chef, Jimmy Shu, on a trip to the iconic Parap Markets to source ingredients for a special dish prepared at East Point Reserve.

Lynton said he was excited to show viewers the best of the NT’s unique and sophisticated food offerings and experiences.

“Showcasing the Northern Territory, a place I love and know so well, to a wider national audience has always been a major goal of mine since I started presenting for Network Ten," he said.

“The people, places and rich history of the Territory all help to create an amazing place. I hope everyone falls in love with it and the show inspires them to get up here to experience all the NT has to offer.”

My Market Kitchen airs nationally on Network Ten from 3:30pm weekdays.

The Northern Territory episodes are expected to air from July 2017.
