A new festival featuring live street art will be held in Darwin later this month.

The first ever Darwin Street Art Festival, "Walls that Tallk", will see leading Australian street artists collaborate with local artists to paint eight Darwin CBD buildings and walls.

The creative designs will boast a unique Territorian perspective.

The Festival is one of the projects funded under the Northern Territory Government's Live Darwin Arts Grants program and significant investment to revitalise and add vibrancy to the Darwin CBD to help boost tourism in the City.

The event also reflects the growing interest in street art. In April this year, Lonely Planet published Street Art – a guide to discovering the world's best urban art.

Street Art has also been proven to draw foot traffic into towns all over the world with Melbourne's Hosier Lane a famous tourism attraction in its own right and one of Australia's most instagrammed destinations.

The Darwin Street Art Festival will be held in the Darwin CBD from 19-29 October.
