Luxury hotel to boost NT tourism
- 03 August 2016
Construction of a $250 million Westin luxury hotel on the Darwin Waterfront will begin next year.
The announcement follows an agreement signed between the NT Government and Darwin Port owner, Landbridge.
The world-class hotel will enhance the popular Waterfront precinct, create hundreds of ongoing jobs, boost tourism and become a destination in its own right.
The hotel will meet the currently unsatisfied demand for high-end accommodation in Darwin; provide a significant edge in the lucrative business conference market and help drive increased visitation to the Northern Territory from Asian markets.
The project marks Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ debut in Darwin through the introduction of its Westin brand.
Construction is expected to begin next year, for completion by 2020.
