Funding to help festivals and events

Festivals and events across the Territory will be brighter, bigger and better in 2019 thanks to a $467,000 funding boost.

14 events will benefit from Round 1 of the NT Major Events Company's (NTMEC) 2018-19 Event Funding program.

They include sport, music, military commemorations, literature and Indigenous culture festivals and events across the Territory.

Among the recipients is the Tiwi Islands Football Grand Final, which has received support to start planning its huge 50th anniversary event in 2020.

Other events to receive support include A Taste of Kakadu, Desert Harmony Festival in Tenannt Creek, the National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAS) in Darwin and NT Writers Festival in Alice Springs. View the full Round 1 List here.

The Event Funding program to create new sustainable events that drive visitation to the Territory, deliver economic and social benefits and create jobs.

The funding supports new and develops existing events to engage the local community, attract visitors and showcase the Northern Territory.

Funding is available for event development to support innovative changes and additions to event programs that drive visitation or strategic development funding to support events to build capability, sustainability and ensure a safe event environment.

The second round of NTMEC event funding will open on 30 October and close on 30 November for events held March 2019 – March 2020.
