Darwin open for business after TC Marcus

Michael Tennant, Acting CEO for Department of Tourism and Culture, said there was no real disruption to the tourism industry in the Top End and the majority of tourism businesses impacted had resumed normal operations.

“While cyclones are a natural phenomenon of the tropics, they are not a regular occurrence in Darwin,” Mr Tennant said.

“Our message to holiday-makers is that Darwin is very much open for business."

While some fallen trees were still being cleaned up, Mr Tennant said they in no way created a disadvantage to experiencing what the Territory has to offer during the traditional summer months – including national parks, wet season waterfalls, fishing, sunsets and more.

A sentiment shared by 690 cruise ship passengers aboard the Azamara Journey, which docked at Fort Hill Wharf on Sunday morning.

Azamara’s guests were welcomed to Darwin and boarded their Top End tours as per normal while a further 700 cruise passengers aboard the Seven Seas Voyager also arrived in Darwin today.

The Tourism Top End Visitor Centre is also open to assist tourists visiting Darwin.
