$1 Million fish on the loose in NT

Million Dollar Fish Season 3 Begins
An iconic Northern Territory barramundi worth $1 Million is swimming around somewhere in NT waters.

The lucrative barra has been released as part of the Northern Territory's popular Million Dollar Fish competition with Season 3 kicking off today.

Timed to influence travel to the Top End during the lower tourism season, Million Dollar Fish encourages anglers and their families to book a holiday to the Territory, try their luck at catching the big one and enjoy our unique tourism experiences while they’re here.

Entry is free with Season 3 offering more than $2.1 million in cash and prizes, including the $1 million prized barramundi and 100 barra with $10,000 prize tags.

The lucky 101 prize tagged barramundi have been tagged and released at some of the best fishing spots in the Top End including Darwin, Kakadu, Katherine, the Tiwi Islands and Arnhem Land regions.

Just by registering, entrants also go into the draw to win two package holidays to Darwin offering flights, fishing safari packages and accommodation, a Jayco Swan Outback Camper trailer worth $30,000, Engel fridges and ice boxes, Shimano Fishing Tackle, and a Can-Am Hunting Edition Quad Bike valued at $14,999 from Territory Power Sport.

The Million Dollar Fish competition runs from 1 October 2017 to 28 February 2018.
