‘Get paid to do this’ Working Holiday Maker Campaign

Get Paid to do this

A priority for Tourism NT is attracting working holiday makers (WHM) to the Northern Territory to fulfil hospitality and tourism jobs, as well as to entice them to live and travel through the regions of the NT. Attracting this target market to the NT allows jobs to be filled and contributes significantly to the economic impact of local businesses across the Territory.

The campaign

The WHM campaign, Get Paid to do this, is an extension of last year’s successful ‘Get Paid’ campaign, targeting newly arrived backpackers (18-35 years) that are already in Australia. The aim of this campaign is to showcase the NT as the ultimate Aussie working holiday experience… It’s the adventure of a lifetime that you get paid for. This campaign will run from 19 March – 31 July 2024.

Capturing the essence of the NT, the messaging will highlight the freedom and job flexibility the Territory provides, from our stunning landscapes and wide open spaces, to epic parties and festivals, to outback adventures, traditional Aboriginal art and nature-based tourism activities.

The ‘Get Paid’ campaign will utilise media, including digital video and static content, to speak to the target audience across youth focused social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and Reddit.

The campaign will be further supported via:

  • Encouraging job signups via WorkerConnect - Jobs in the Northern Territory;
  • PR activity and famil to generate destination-focused content to promote and raise awareness of the NT; and
  • Conversion partnership with Backpacker Deals with up to 20% off NT experiences.

WorkerConnect – Jobs in the Northern Territory talent pool

Building our workforce and gearing up for the Territory’s peak season is a key priority.

The NT Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade has also implemented a talent pool that allows Territory businesses to load their jobs, and search for workers that have loaded their CV to the system.

Advertising your job is a great way to get noticed in preparation for our peak tourism season – and now is a great time to begin this process.

How businesses can get involved

  1. List your job vacancy on WorkerConnect - Jobs in the Northern Territory. This is a job talent pool platform where Territory employers can find job seekers by registering your businesses details and job vacancies.
  2. Hospitality NT members can leverage the campaign by submitting job vacancies to their association and registering the vacancy on WorkerConnect - Jobs in the Northern Territory.
  3. Ensure that your business’ ATDW listing is up to date and live.

There is no cost for businesses to list their vacancy with WorkerConnect - Jobs in the Northern Territory.
