New holograms tell historic NT story
- 04 June 2016
In an Australian-first, the new tourism displays use the latest 'mist holographic technology', telling the story of the Northern Territory's key role in the construction of the Australian Overland Telegraph Line - one of the great engineering feats of the 19th century.
The new displays at the Alice Springs Telegraph Station and Lyons Cottage in Darwin celebrate the Northern Territory's pioneering spirit and bring to life the little-known stories of some of the people who were involved in this significant milestone in Australia's history.
The construction of the Australian Overland Telegraph Line in 1870 from Port Augusta, South Australia to Darwin connected Australia to the rest of the world.
The new hologram displays showcase five characters involved in the project.
