More walking tracks for Nitmiluk National Park
- 28 February 2018
The funding will help develop new multi-day walking experiences combining Aboriginal culture and nature, open up new mountain bike trail networks in the Park and improve links between visitor facilities in the region.
Nitmiluk National Park is known for its incredible country and walking trails, with people traveling from all over the world to experience the challenge of the 62km Jatbula Trail.
The Territory Government will work closely with the Jawoyn Traditional Owners to develop the new tracks.
“We’re very excited about it and we are looking forward to further development of the Park,” said Lisa Mumbin, Chairperson of the Jawoyn Association.
“It has been a long time since the Park has received dollars for infrastructure and this will help us pick up the vision of our elders.
“It will bring more tourists and visitors to the Park to learn stories about our culture and provide jobs and training for our people.”
The new funding is part of the NT Government's $103 million Turbocharging Tourism stimulus package to boost tourism and drive the economy.
