Understand the policy

Sustainable tourism sits within a broader policy context. It is valuable to have a broad knowledge of Australian and NT Government policies, programs and plans that are relevant to your business. Familiarising yourself may lead to opportunities as often government commitments are supported with resources and grant funding programs that your business may be eligible for.

Furthermore, businesses will be increasingly held to account for their sustainable management practices. Many large businesses already do this with comprehensive Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Tooltip button strategies. As government and community expectations continue to grow, small and medium sized businesses will need to do the same. Understanding more about government priorities, expectations and policy will also help you navigate your obligations and develop your sustainability strategies.
