Five new swimming spots will be opened at Litchfield National Park under a $12 million Turbocharging Tourism boost.

The infrastructure investment is the biggest ever for the Park, which is one of the Top End's most popular tourist attractions with almost 370,000 visitors per year.

The new funding will create five new swimming spots accessible by 4WD, another 40 kilometres of 4WD tracks, mountain bike tracks, new campgrounds and more  picnic areas within the 1,500 square kilometre landscape.

It's expected the new swimming holes and adventure opportunities will support an additional 60,000 visitors annually, providing a significant boost to regional tourism.

In line with the Plan of Management for Litchfield National Park, the investment could also open up potential opportunities for culturally appropriate commercial tourism ventures in the Park, in conjunction with native title holders and key stakeholders.

The $12 million Litchfield National Park expansion is part of the NT Government’s $103 million Turbocharging Tourism stimulus plan to boost tourism and create more jobs.
